National LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care Strategy
In 2012 the Australian Federal Government recognising LGBTI older people as a ‘special needs’ group. This recognition was formalised through the National LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care Strategy, meaning that specific funds and service requirements will be attached to providing care to LGBTI people.
A review of this policy is currently underway.
‘The Department of Health invites you to share your thoughts and feedback on the National Ageing and Aged Care Strategy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.
The Department is currently reviewing progress against the Strategies. As well as highlighting achievements, we need to identify any gaps where more needs to be done. Your feedback will contribute towards the review and inform the development of a new Aged Care Diversity Framework.
